Why consider whitening

Many people would like a brighter smile but are not sure what is involved, or they worry about sensitivity. Whitening starts with a conversation. We look at your current shade and what you would like to change, then talk through whether GLO whitening is a good fit for you.

There is never any pressure, and if it is not the right option for you, we will tell you.

What is GLO in-office whitening

Instead of a large light positioned in front of your face, GLO uses a comfortable wearable LED mouthpiece connected to a small USB-rechargeable device. The gentle warmth helps activate the whitening gel while keeping the experience comfortable.

Because it uses less heat than some older systems, many patients find it more comfortable, with less of the sensitivity sometimes described as zingers.

How the Teeth Whitening Process Works at Miller Dental Care

Our teeth whitening process is designed to be safe and tailored to each patient. Here's what you can expect.

  1. 1

New Patient Exam and Smile Assessment

Whitening is only done once we know your teeth and gums are healthy, so a recent exam with us is required. We check for cavities, gum health, and any existing restorations such as crowns, veneers, or bonding that will not change colour with whitening. This is the safety check that makes everything else predictable.

  2. 2

    Your GLO Whitening Visit

On the day, we prepare your teeth and protect your gums with a barrier, then apply and activate the GLO whitening gel.

  3. 3

    Results and Ongoing Maintenance

You will see a change after your visit. Results vary from person to person depending on your starting shade, your enamel, and your habits. To help maintain your smile, we check your shade at your regular check-ins and talk through simple ways to keep it looking its best.

Gentle on sensitive teeth

If you are prone to sensitive teeth, let us know. We can adjust our approach to keep you comfortable, and any sensitivity after whitening is usually mild and short-lived.

A simple tip that helps

Brushing with a sensitivity toothpaste such as Sensodyne for a couple of weeks beforehand can make a real difference.
